How will you lead within your community?

She brings radiance, excellence and full allegiance in everything she does. Her depth of experience is both superb and is sincerely jaw-dropping astounding as she engages with full heart and devotion in a multitude of roles such as... founder, connector, community champion, volunteer, advocate and philanthropist. She has been a beacon of light for thousands during her 40+ years of service. In 1980, she founded Roanoke Meals on Wheels now, known as Metroport Meals on Wheels. She’s lived in Westlake Texas for 43 years in the most magical fairytale-esk historic home, circa 1938 with her husband Scott of 57 years and proud Mother of their two grown daughters Paige and Brooke.

She expresses her gratitude to Northeast Leadership, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Safehaven, Northwest Metroport Chamber and others for acknowledging her many community focused efforts. Having the community respond by presenting her with leadership and achievement awards has been rewarding, yet it is when her core value of service to others is met that when she feels the truest sense of authenticity.

In creating these volunteer opportunities and becoming a mentor to her children, she has found such a joy; it is important to her as well to have promoted the act of service to the community at large.  Even though she is retired as Executive Director of Metroport Meals On Wheels, she still deliver meals and helps with fundraising. And at 80, she continues to work with other charity organizations that she respects and loves, for example, House of Shine and Summer Santa.

Kelly loves her job these days.  It is much the same as it has always been:  networking, bringing people together…It is especially thrilling hosting charity functions in their home to fundraise for many causes (Alzheimers, a rare-children’s disease called Battenhope, and so many other nonprofits).  She celebrates seeing the lives of the volunteers enriched by the service they give to others, just as she rejoices in the enhanced lives of those receiving that help!
